Your Life Is Not Their Product
This is a subtitle for your new post

A camera you never agreed to. An app that knows where your kids sleep. A face that shows up in a video you never made. In California, none of that is something you simply have to accept.
Ava: Michael, when people hear "digital privacy," their eyes glaze over — they think cookie banners. But the version that actually keeps women and parents up at night is different. It's the ex who put an app on the phone. It's the fake photo. It's the "family safety" tracker that turned into a leash. That's the stuff Pink Data is about.
Michael Benavides, Esq.: Exactly — and here's the part most people don't know: California gives you some of the strongest tools in the country for precisely those situations. The problem isn't that the law is absent. It's that no one tells you it exists. Pink Data is about closing that gap.
The threats we actually mean
California's toolkit — and it's real
Michael Benavides, Esq.: A quick tour of what you already have. Nonconsensual intimate images and deepfakes are reachable under Civil Code § 1708.85 and Penal Code § 647(j)(4), with newer laws aimed squarely at digitally altered images. Stalkerware and secret recordings run into California's wiretap and eavesdropping statutes, Penal Code §§ 631 and 632, and the tracking-device statute, § 637.7. Impersonating you online is its own crime under Penal Code § 528.5. You can force data brokers to delete you using your CCPA/CPRA rights and the Delete Act. And civil-harassment or domestic-violence restraining orders can reach digital conduct directly.
Ava: So the answer to "is this even illegal?" is usually yes.
Michael Benavides, Esq.: More often than people expect. The harder question is proof and procedure — and that's where having someone in your corner matters.
What Pink Data does
